I have been a frequent business traveller for more than 13 years and continue to cover the globe.
Whilst living in the north of England I’m a regular visitor to mainland Europe, the US, Africa, Asia, Australia and at times South America.
I’ve yet to visit Antarctica but that is an aspiration for the future.
As a frequent traveller who endures flights and frustration I felt inspired to begin this website to share those experiences. Some of the comments I make will be those which I’m sure many of you will be thinking. In fact I would be surprised if any frequent traveller hasn’t shared some of these thoughts over time.
Since these thoughts are unlikely to be unique to myself then I feel it makes little difference as to who I really am.
In fact, I’m the guy, just any old guy. I am the guy sat next to you when you travel by the plane, train, boat or even just in the car next to you waiting at the red traffic light. When we share enjoyable memorable moments I will share them here. When things annoy me then I’ll share them here too.

goodness! you have left your mark all over the globe! good luck on your antarctica dream ??
Thanks Megan, I’m very fortunate to have these opportunities.
We have visited many of the same countries! I would love to go to Antarctica as well. I actually would love to go everywhere! ??
Thanks for visiting my site. Going everywhere is certainly very exciting although it does take a fair bit of time! If we’ve visited the same places then I’ll certainly enjoy keeping track of your blog.
Hi The Guy,
Great to see so many regular new stories on this blog. I’m curenlty enjoying a lovely black coffee with milk.
Keep on blogging!
P.
Thanks Patrick. Don’t forget the sugar!
Your passport has a unicorn on it !
Yes, so it has! I might have to look into the history of that. Thanks for visiting.
I love that you’re a frequent business traveler like me! I love traveling, but when you travel so much for work, there are definitely added frustrations. No beach or sightseeing at the end of that long flight! ??
That is true Koren. Thankfully I do get the odd weekend stay on some of my trips so can take in the local sights and culture. I was by the City Beach in Brisbane just yesterday.
Great to read a visitor’s enthusiasm for Melbourne! I think our city is awesome but Sydney gets the bulk of attention and hence promotional spending so not as many people learn how wonderful Melbourne is. Thanks for sharing ??
Hi Michelle thanks for visiting. Be sure to keep checking back over the next few months as I’ll be releasing quite a few articles on “the magic of Melbourne”.
You sound just like my brother, he spends most of his life on planes, for business, not pleasure. It’s a different world, he’d rather stay home than go to China for the 50th time. I love the whole mystery traveller thing, let me know if you’re ever sitting next to me.
Hi Alyson, thanks for stopping by. I’ll look out for you, you never know which airport we might bump into each other.
LOL I can relate to that; traveling can be fun, but after 20 trips to Rome, it gets rather boring. Plus, the frustration of so much time away from your family really builds up over the years.
Glad to have met you!
Travelling is an education, no matter why we go, either for business or pleasure.
Last week my mom and I travelled by train to Italy, and I have to say, the time it took, we could have flown to Canada and back.
Any tips on European train travel? I haven’t quite mastered it yet!
??
Hi Eva, the last time I took the train around Europe, outside of the UK was 20 years ago. I was a student at the time and got a one month Eurorail pass. Think it cost a few hundred pounds at the time but it let me cover all sorts of places freely for a month. It was a great introduction to international travel. I’m not sure if they are still available anymore but it might be worth checking out if you can commit a month to travel.
Thanks for visiting.
My story is quite the opposite. I traveled all over the world with my family. Even lived outside the country for a while. Returned to the road after early retirement and am now living my dream life as a happy digital nomad.
Great to hear you are enjoying retirement Teresa. Irrespective of circumstance there is always an opportunity to enjoy travel.
Great site and you’ve done a load of travelling too with a nice story. I notice Antarctica is on your list – that’s been my favourite place so far on my travels – totally recommend it! Safe travels and look forward to reading more. Jonny
Many thanks Jonny. I recently found your site and love it too. Keep up the good work.
Hi Guy,
I’m aware that nominations tend to be for “fresh” bloggers like myself however, I nevertheless, just wanted to give you a head’s up that I’ve nominated you for the Dragon’s Loyalty Award. I’ve also written a few words about you and your blog. Feel free to take a look. Thanks!

Thank you very much Victoria, that is exceedingly kind of you ?? More importantly many congratulations on your award and recognition. We first interacted a few months ago and it has been a real pleasure following your blog.
ya but have you been to Accrington?
Accrington Stanley? Who are they? ??
Its amazing to sit in the balcony and read all your experiences ! Would love to explore so much of the world ! What’s your profession/job that lets you fly so much ? BTW Keep Blogging ! Cheers mate !
Ah thanks Rahul, I’m glad you enjoy the blog.
You don’t like the mystery? I can’t possibly shatter the mysteriousness which is good fun, don’t you agree?
What I can say is that I have a professional qualification and my clients are worldwide.
I consider it to be very unprofessional to discuss my employer on a personal website, that is why I don’t do it.
Congrats on two years of terrific travel blogging! Happy Birthday too!
Many thanks Phil. Happy anniversary to you too, didn’t you start just a few weeks before I did?
Haha, i can so identify myself with this…I have been a business frequent traveler for the last 10 years and although everyone thinks this is very glamorous and, it certainly is during most of the time, there are lots of moments when you think “jezzz…again!” and have to sit on a seat that doesn’t recline, next to the toilet, on a red-eye never-ending flight, or next to a screaming baby, or you have to endure the immigration queues that are so long you can’t even see the officer…
and then you take a deep breath and remember that you are very lucky to see the world!
I’m with you Mar. We have to show a lot of patience and do a lot of boring routine things before they perceived “glamour” stuff. I meet a lot of people who are fascinated by what I do then say they could never do it. Admittedly almost continuous travel is not for everyone, irrespective of the class of travel.
I’ve been a frequent flyer (platinum and gold) for a bit over five years now, and for me, the frustration is overshadowing the fun lately. Not only the travel nuisances, but especially having to sleep in a hotel bed for the thousandth time, wishing that I was home instead.
Doing this two more years max, and then I want to have a job that doesn’t require me to travel (much) anymore.
Sounds like you have plenty of experience of life on the road Johan. I hope you find the right work/life/travel balance for you and your family. Such frequent travel is definitely not for everyone.
I’m not a frequent flyer….wish I was. But i do enjoy travelling and have enjoyed your blog. We are travelling to Dubai with Emirates very soon and have just read your reviews of the A380 and Manchester Airport lounge. Makes me even more excited for my trip! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind words. I hope that you have a wonderful trip.
